Big B’s much awaited debut fiction TV series-Yudh, starts from today on Sony Entertainment channel. Co-produced by Amitabh Bachchan’s production company Saraswati Creations with Endemol India, Yudh will replace the daily-soap Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, a Balaji Telefilms production which had a long run of nearly 3 years. Yudh is said to be the most expensive fiction show ever made in Indian television till date, with costing of each episode running up to Rs. 3 crores till date.
Yudhisthir Sikarwar alias Yudh played by Amitabh Bachchan, an elite businessman suffering from a neuropsychological disorder. Yudh is shown battling with various challenges of life which include his health, corporate rivalry and emotional strife with his family simultaneously.
Yudh in the story has two wives- Gauri, played by veteran actress Sarika, with whom he has one daughter Taruni, a role played by Aahana Kumra and his second wife Nayantara is played by Ayesha Raza. Pavail Gulati plays the role of Rishi- son of Yudh and his second wife Nayantara.
When Yudh comes to know about his illness, he wants to give his empire to Taruni. But his second wife, Nayantara wants it to be divided as Rishi, her son who is also entitled to a share of Yudh’s empire, thus emerges the ‘yudh’ (battle) of this empire.
With Ribhu Dasgupta directing the serial, it has Anurag Kashyap on board as creative director and Shoojit Sircar as creative consultant. This much-awaited show is scheduled to go live from July 14, 2014 on at 10.30 pm on Sony Entertainment Television and will be aired from Monday to Thursday.
