It is the science of architecture and construction. It incorporates Hindu and in some cases Buddhist beliefs. Have you ever felt some kind of positive vibes when you enter a certain house? Well, if yes, then that may be attributed to the right amount of energies that come from our atmosphere like the sun, wind, light, moon etc. Right balance of these energies in the house is believed to bless a home with prosperity, success and well-being.   1. The drawing room should always be in the east or north so as to welcome the morning rays of the sun. The light surely brings in a lot of positivity

  2. Furniture should be square or rectangular. This room should not have circular, triangular, egg shaped hexagonal or odd shapes.

  3. Avoid negative vibes by not placing pictures of animals, storm, wars, weeping children, women etc.

  4. Go brighter when it comes to colour off the walls and tiles. Yellow, White, green or blue spell positivity. Avoid red or black.

  5. God deserves a place inside your home and hearts. No photographs or idols of God outside your home, above the entrance.

  6. Electric equipment can be placed in the SE corner which is ruled by Agni (Fire deity) as per Vastu.

  7. The center is ruled by Brahma. So to keep it light, avoid placing a heavy Chandelier at the center of the room.

Kitchen is the heart of every home. It is place where happiness is cooked. There is the fragrance of love here and it gives the taste of health and well-being. It deserves special care when it comes to being Vastu compliant.

Few Vastu tips for your kitchen:

  1. As mentioned earlier, South East is rules by the fire deity. So cooking gas or stove should be placed at South-east with the cook facing east.

  2. Provision for water storage and taps should be made in North-east of the kitchen.

  3. Electric equipment like microwave, oven or refrigerator should be placed in South-west.

  4. The door of the kitchen should never face the door of a toilet.

  5. The fridge should be in placed in the Southwest corner of the kitchen.

  6. The storage for all the food grains, utensils, the overhead cupboard should always be on the Southern and the western walls and not on the Northern and the Eastern walls.

  1. Earthen colours spell peace and Vastu recommends earthen shades for bedroom.

  2. Place a single mattress on a double bed to avoid separation woes.

  3. The master bedroom should always be located in the South West. South West is ruled by Earth which implies the heaviness. This makes it as the ideal place for the master of the house.

  4. Sleep with head towards South, East or West and never in north.

  5. Avoid wrought iron beds. Vastu Shastra recommends wood.

  6. Avoid mirrors in front of the bed.

  3. Study table should face East, North or North-east.
