detective byomkesh bakshi @TheRoyaleIndia

Inspired by the most popular fictional character Byomkesh Bakshi created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay, this movie is to be directed by Dibakar Banerjee with Sushant Singh Rajput playing the lead role. Set in the early 1940s, in the war stricken city of Joy i.e. Kolkata, the movie revolves around Byomkesh Bakshi, fresh out of college and all set to solve his first case. Don’t forget, viewers have a couple of its adaptations to compare the film with, a Hindi TV serial with a same name with Rajit Kapur in the main lead while its many Bengali TV and movie adaptations. All set to watch Sushant Rajput, neatly attired in crisp white dhoti, shirt and well trimmed mustache too!!

Jagga Jassos

Slated to be directed by Anurag Basu and co produced by Ranbir Kapoor who will be playing the lead role of Jagga Jasoos along with Katrina Kaif as his classmate and Govinda as Jagga’s step father. From what we have heard, the story is likely to be true to the blue Bollywood entertainer full of action, comedy and music and somewhere on the lines of Hollywood flicks of James Bond and Sherlock Holmes too. Interestingly, the movie will be released under Picture Shuru Productions a new banner jointly established Ranbir Kapoor and Anurag Basu whilst he could have released the movie through RK films too!!

Bobby Jasoos

Known to take up different roles, Vidya Balan is the first actress to take up the role of a lady detective. Her other trend setting contributions include the Dirty Picture, Kahani, No one killed Jessica, Paa and Ishquiya. Though the release dates have yet to be finalized, the initial pictures show Vidya disguised as a beggar outside a railway station in Hyderabad and had a woman actually offering her some alms. Directed by Samar Shaikh, produced by Dia Mirza and Sahil Sangha, Bobby Jasoos features songs written by Swanand Kirkire while music is composed by Shantanu Moitra

Samrat and Co.

samrat & co @TheRoyaleIndia

Different on a serious note, Samrat and Co. compels viewers to think and try to unravel the mystery. Set in the buzzing metropolis capital of Mumbai, with Rajeev Khandelwal playing the role of the protagonist takes the viewers through a maze full of suspense, twists and turns compelling them to solve the crime. Produced by Kavita Barjatya of Rajshri Productions, the movie is indeed a through provoking one as it highlights the crime solving capabilities of the detectives, this one could prove to be slightly heavy on regular Bollywood fans who wish to just get entertained. Definitely a trend setter as Samrat & Co. reveals an intense psychoanalytical story plot as suggested by Kaushik Ghatak, the director of the movie. Scheduled for release in early May this year, let’s keep our fingers crossed on this Samrat and Co.
