In order to strengthen the presence of the company in two-wheeler industry, TVS Motors plans to introduce a slew of launches of both scooter and motorcycle in 2014-15, i.e. the current financial year.
As per TVS’s annual report mentions, ‘A slew of new launches of motorcycles and scooters in 2014-15 are expected to further strengthen the presence of the company in motorcycle category and consolidate position in scooter category.’
In the year 2012 – 13, TVS had sold 19.9 lakh two wheelers in line. At the same time, it witnessed a decline in two wheeler sales in Tamil Nadu especially the sales of mopeds which declined marginally on account of poor monsoon. On the other hand, sale of three wheeler vehicles increased by 63 per cent in the same financial year.
On the exports side, TVS has performed considerably well with its sale of two wheelers which rose by 14% on account of expansion in demand, better product offerings and upgrades done in the distribution network.
Encouraged by a successful test market drive of a three wheeler diesel version in 2013-14, it’s roll out is scheduled during 2014-15. In addition, to have a complete range of two wheelers, along with the regular two-wheelers, TVS plans to launch a new 125 cc sports motorcycle and a new 125 cc superior Skubek.
