If you thought that 2014 had a lot of events, you will be pleasantly surprised with what 2015 has in store. The year is quite exciting with some out-of-the-world events taking place. The year has something to offer for everyone. The following is a list of events that you could look forward to this year:-
Every literature enthusiast knows and looks forward to attending the biggest event of its kind at Charlotte Square in Scotland’s capital city. The festival that takes place in the last three weeks of August has contributed in making Edinburgh the first UNESCO City of Literature in 2004. From J.K Rowling to Salman Rushdie, every splendid writer is in attendance. With over 700 workshops, discussions and performances for people of all age, this Scottish city turns into heaven for all book lovers.
See why I said that the year’s events will be out of this world? Every star gazer waits for these celestial occurrences and prays for things to fall out of the sky (literally!). The Perseids shower will occur on the night of 12/13 August whereas the Geminid will grace the skies on the night of 14th December.
Universal Exposition, In Milan!!! I don’t need to say more to convince you of the awesomeness of this event, do I? However, I WILL continue. The world fair is a large public exhibition that serves as a melting pot of various cultures and people. On display are new inventions that will leave you in awe. If that doesn’t amaze you enough, maybe the extent to which the participating nations go to brand their nation will. The theme for this year’s Expo to be held from 1st may- 31st October is ‘Feeding the planet, energy for life’. With 200 hectares of exhibition space, 146 participating nations and an expected visitor count of 20,000,000, this is going to be one mega event that will promote the image of the host country.
Founded in 1985 by Roberto Medina, Rock in Rio is a series of concerts that hosts the best performers of rock, pop, indie, and heavy metal music. One of the largest music festivals in the world, the 6th Edition will be held from September 18-27 at the New City of Rock in Brazil. The list of performers include Katy Perry, System of a Down, A-Ha, John Legend and Queens of The Stone Age, among others. Another edition of the concert is to be held in Las Vegas later this year.
Established at the behest of Alfred Nobel, the prizes are awarded in the field of Physics, Chemistry, Literature, Peace, Physiology or Medicine. The award ceremonies are held at the Stockholm Concert Hall in Sweden on the 10th of December, the anniversary of Nobel’s death. The Peace prize, though, is presented at Oslo in Norway. The highly prestigious award ceremony sees dignitaries and the best minds from across the world unite to mark the progress of the world. The award ceremony is followed by a Banquet that is attended by the Swedish Royal family and more than 1000 guests.
One of the most popular music sensations of this generation intends to paint the world red this year. With a total of 77 shows, Taylor will be ‘Swift’ly (see what I did there?) moving through the continents starting 5th May in Tokyo and ending in Melbourne on December 12. Catch any of her live shows and go as crazy as her songs are!
Appealing to the interests of every earthly being, 2015 paves the way for everyone to soak their minds in something different throughout the year. Go ahead now, take out your calendar and mark the dates that you need to reserve to make this year as memorable as the last one.
