The Canon EOS 760 is the latest that Canon has to offer in the Rebel series. Announced in February this year, the new 24 megapixel shooter is still awaiting release in India. Back when the Rebel series was introduced, it specialized in entry-level cameras that beginners could master with a not so difficult learning curve. But now the new 760D has given an evolutionary twist to the Rebel series by bringing features from higher segments into the Rebel line-up. The new 760D, in essence, is an amalgamation of entry and pro-level feature sets. Like higher end cameras, it features a second top plate display to quickly change settings using the quick access thumb wheel on the rear, a first for the Rebel line up. It also showcases a commendable 19 focus points, Flicker detection, Wifi and NFC; all these features were never seen before in this segment. If you have a basic knowledge of DSLRs and would like to have more control over your pictures, then this camera might just be the perfect device for your needs. If you’re looking to buy a camera soon, we suggest that you wait a few days till the 760D is released and bring it home.

The predecessor to the new 760D, the 700D is still very much relevant and has a long life ahead of it. For those of you who want a mid-level camera but don’t want to spend the extra bucks on the 760D, this shooter is perfect for you. The 700D houses the trusted 18 megapixel sensor that is regularly seen in the Rebel line-up. If you do not have the time to wait for the 760D, we can safely advise you to go ahead and buy the 700D. You can always sell the body and buy the 760D later. For the lesser price, you would only have to give up on features like the top plate info screen, the thumb wheel dial and Wifi with NFC among others. The device features the same articulated touch screen LCD and viewfinder. The rest of the device is pretty much similar.

Probably the most popular camera of the Rebel line, the 600D is considered the grand old daddy of entry/mid-level DSLRs. The camera is great for those who want to move over from compact point and shoot cameras. The 600D DSLR allows you to exercise more control over your pictures but at the same time does not intimidate you with complex features. A photographer needs to have only the basic understanding of the ‘triad’ (the aperture, shutter speed and the ISO). Once that is coupled with a little hands-on experience with this device, you are good to go. Even though we have successors of this camera on the market, this dependable device is a great option if you are short on budget. The device also acts as a great backup camera, since it is compact and handy. Featuring the same 18 megapixel sensor as the 700D, the camera can shoot at a rate of 3.7 fps and features a 9 point autofocus system. The 600D, however, does not have a touch screen display, which is understandable given the lesser price.

Announced at the same time as the 700D, the 100D is another nifty little compact DSLR camera. Given it does not have the fully articulated screen that the previous 3 in our list have, but it still is a great camera with an affordable price tag. It is cheaper than the 700D by a few thousand rupees which is quite a bargain for this device. It houses the same CMOS sensor and has most of the features that other cameras in this list have.

If the 600D is the big daddy in the entry/mid-level segment, the 1200D can rightfully take its place as the big son. A delightfully compact DSLR, the 1200D is ideal for beginners. Its small frame and low price help the consumer to make the transition from smaller point and shoot cameras quite easily. The small size has been known to put off photographers who want a professional feel when shooting their pictures. For those of you who want that, maybe you ought to go for higher end cameras, but worry not, Flipkart Camera Offers will make sure that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get your desired DSLR.
