While summers are for holidaying, trips, or staying out whole day, it is also that time of the year when everyone looks for something refreshing and fruity to keep hydrated and active. Although having cold (at times chilled) water is cool, but not that cool an idea every time.

In this article, we have come up with recipes of two stimulating summer drinks that will not only quench your thirst but will be a delightful treat to your palate as well.

1. Jackfruit Shake

It is very rightly said that every single part of a jackfruit tree can be put to some good use. Jackfruit shake prepared with coconut milk, and jaggery will help you beat the summer heat and stay active all day long.

  • Jackfruit – 3 pieces (ripe)

  • Jaggery/Brown Sugar – ¼ cup

  • Coconut Milk – 1 cup

  • Cashew Nuts – 5 (Finely chopped)


  • Cut the jaggery into small pieces and place in a heavy-bottomed saucepan

  • Add about ¼ cup water and bring it to boil

  • Cook till all the jaggery dissolves completely and forms a thick syrup like consistency

  • Keep it aside to cool completely

  • Blend the jackfruit pulp (of course after removing the seeds) with coconut milk until smooth

  • Now, add the jaggery syrup and refrigerate

  • Garnish with cashew nuts

PS: If you don’t like very thick jackfruit shake, you can adjust the consistency by adding ice cubes while blending.

2. Sangria

The colourful and flavoursome Sangria is a Spanish wine punch can be served on any home party or Sunday afternoon/evening. You can easily prepare a large batch in advance and simply make little alterations and play with the type of wine and fruits you have. Sangria is a fun way to add personality to your pitcher that can easily soak up the summer’s freshest produce for a delightful taste.



  • Apple – ½ (chopped)

  • Orange – ½ (sliced, seeds removed)

  • Organic Brown Sugar – 4 tbsp.

  • Orange Juice – ¾ cup

  • Brandy – 1/3 cup

  • Dry Spanish Red Wine – 750 ml

  • Ice Cubes


  • In a large pitcher add oranges, apples and brown sugar

  • Muddle well using a wooden spoon for about a minute

  • Now, add orange juice as well as brandy and mix for another minute

  • Now is the time to add the red wine

  • Taste and adjust according to your preference by adding orange juice, brandy, or fruits

  • Refrigerate for about 2-3 hours (this also ensures all the flavours come out nicely)
