After 12 years, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has launched a new version of its Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) on Thursday. This move was made to take on the rising competition in the market in SUV segment. With a lot of added features, this latest SUV is priced between Rs 7.98 lakh and Rs 11.46 lakh.
The first model of Scorpio was launched in 2002 and since then over 4,50,000 Scorpios have been sold across India, while in global market around 74,000 units have been sold. Till now M & M had an average of selling about 4,000 to 4,200 units a month. The highest was recorded in FY13. With the launch of this new model, the monthly average is expected to go even higher by the company. The highlights of this new model as claimed by M&M are 5-6% more fuel efficiency than the older model, best-in-class turning radius, and the new chassis on which the SUV is built. The new transmission and gearbox along with the softer suspension and a re-tuned 2.2 litre Mhawk engine, which claims to deliver enhanced ride along with handling and driving dynamics, are few more important features of this new version of Scorpio. Besides, the new exterior and interior styling has also an added attraction of this model.
