Do you love both, pot pie and usual pizza and wonder how you could combine the two?
Are you one of those who always wishes to enjoy their Pizzas in a little different way?
Well, if you’re one of the square-pegs-in-a-round-hole who likes to tweak everything and try out the new ways, here’s a variation to your usual deep-dish pizzas. Known as Pizza Pot Pie, the Italian-style upside down pizza will give you a break from the traditional pizzas that you have been eating for decades now.
Here’s how you can go about this recipe:
While your veggies are cooking, you can prepare your sausages (if using)
Add it to the above-prepared sauce along with the sliced pepperoni and let it simmer on a low flame for about half an hour or until properly cooked. Garnish with basil leaves.
Take the bowls that you wish to use for this recipe and place two slices of mozzarella and Provolone Cheese each in the base.
Divide the above-prepared sauce mixture equally among the bowls and roll out the pizza dough into circles that are almost an inch wider than the pot’s top.
Place the dough circles over the filled bowl or ramekin and carefully pull the dough over the edge of the bowl (about 1-inch) to seal the bowls properly.
Now, brush the top pf the pizza dough with some olive oil. If you want your pizza pot pie to be loaded with parmesan cheese, sprinkle some at this stage.
Do remember to make a small slit on the top of the pizza dough using a knife.
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees and bake till the pizza crust turns golden (this will take about 20-25 minutes, depending on the thickness of your pizza crust).
PS: For vegetarians, you can replace the sausages and pepperoni with 1 eggplant, 2 Zucchini, and 2 yellow squash – all sliced up. If you’re not able to get all the ingredients on your local store, checkout the Bigbasket offers and save big on your grocery shopping.
Do prepare these Pizza Pot Pies for the Sunday lunch and surprise your kids with something that they had never heard of.
