Now that the World Cup fever is over, the distributors have to tackle another storm, IPL. Although the popularity of IPL has plummeted since its inception, Bollywood has become rather cautious. With IPL matches being streamed in various multiplexes, releasing a movie during this phase can be a risky thing. However, the month of April promises to give us a number of good releases to look forward to. Here, the Royale recommends must watch movies in the month of April 2015.

1. Detective Byomkesh Bakshy

The movie stars Sushant Singh Rajput, and is based on the popular fictional character detective Byomkesh Bakshy created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. This would be the very first adaptation of the iconic character into a Bollywood Movie. All of Dibakar Banerjee’s films have been off-beat and entertained the audience thoroughly and a lot is expected from this one as well.

Plot: A Muslim man finds himself in the fix of things when he discovers that he is adopted and was actually born in a Jewish Family.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra directs a host of international stars in this mystery thriller produced by Vinod Chopra Films.

Plot: Set against the drug war on the American-Mexican border, the film explores the relationship between two brothers, a hired mercenary and a resource-level violinist.

Movie buffs would already be aware of this brilliant movie written and directed by Bikas Ranjan Mishra. The movie was screened during the 16th Mumbai Film Festival last year and also won the Golden Gateway of India Award for the Best Film.

Plot: A 14-year-old Dalit boy Santu, has to look after the pig that his family owns while he dreams of going to a town school like his brother. After his elder brother finds out about Santu’s infatuation for a girl, he helps Santu write a love letter.

Cast: Soham Maitra, Ena Saha, Riddhi Sen, Sanjay Suri, and Tannishtha Chatterjee

5. Ek Paheli Leela

For all you Sunny Leone fanatics, this one could be a visual treat. For all those who are not, the movie is a musical-thriller – this might entice you.

Plot: This is a reincarnation love tale of Leela and her lover. One of them is murdered, and after 300 years Leela becomes Meera; her lover is also reborn.

Cast: Sunny Leone, Jay Bhanushali, Rajneesh Duggal, Mohit Ahlawat, Rahul Dev, Jas Arora, and Shivani Tanksale.

6. Margarita With A Straw

Plot: Laila (Kalki Koechlin), a Delhi University student, is diagnosed with cerebral palsy and is bound to a wheelchair. She’s an aspiring writer who also creates electronic music for a band in Delhi. Soon after getting admitted in the New York University, Laila falls in love with a young activist Khanum (Sayani Gupta).
