With multiple colour options, powerful features and a budget friendly price tag, the Moto X succeeded in acquiring the most needed attention. However, being a US-only smartphone, those outside America were left pretty disappointed. Motorola recently unveiled Moto G with an identical design and a 4.5-inch display. Unlike the Moto X, this one will be shipped Outside the United States, and you can surely expect it to come to India by January next year. Let’s have a closer look at the device.

In terms of looks, the Moto G seems to be quite close to it’s predecessor, in fact the 2 look almost the same. The handset will be available in various colours including purple and turquoise. Although the device comes with an 8 GB and a 16 GB storage option, it lacks external SD card support. So, if you are in a habit of dumping all your crucial data onto your smartphone, you might be a bit disappointed. Above all, the handset sports an impressive 4.5 inch display with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution.

The Moto G comes pre-loaded with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. However, you can surely expect an upgrade to Android 4.4 by January 2014. Though not yet confirmed, the Moto G might feature a voice control that allows you to dictate messages, emails and set calender appointments.

While the Moto X was powered by a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor, the Moto G packs in a fabulous quad-core processor but clocked at a slightly slower speed of 1.2 GHz, which might make a bit of a difference. On the rear is a 5-MP snapper, which comes in as a slight disappointment. At least an 8 MP camera would have been better. The handset also sports a 1.3 MP front-facing camera for video calling.

We are finally down to the most important part, the battery. Powering the device is a 2070 mAh battery which can easily last for an entire day on a moderate usage. However, if playing high-end graphic games is one of your passtimes, the battery is most likely to give up well before you go to bed.

Final verdict

The 8 GB variant will cost you somewhere around Rs. 11,500, while the 16 GB model may come with a price tag of Rs. 12600. With such a low price that can go even lower with the incredible Motorola Offers, investing in this fabulous device is definitely not a bad deal.
