Seeing the potential of India being a huge market for low-cost mobile phones, Micromax is all slated to enter this market with, Canvas Nitro, the latest smartphone today, the first Android One device to launch in India. With the launch of Android-One, the race to offer the most cost-effective smartphones gets even fiercer.
With Google providing its Android software, this low cost smartphone is slated to perform better than existing low-cost Android phones. Expected to be priced around Rs 7,000 the phone will be exclusively on Snapdeal from 2PM onwards. In the video teaser launched, Snapdeal says the phone won’t ‘discriminate’ among the premium or VIP and middle class shoppers.
India being the world’s third-biggest and fastest growing smartphone market, offers a highly potential base for pushing Android-One device globally as on par with Google’s initiatives. With majority of mobile shoppers moving on to smartphone handsets, Micromax feels this would be best time to consolidate its position in a competitive market where more than 80 mobile phone companies are striving to secure a decent customer segment.
In coming days, do watch out for Karbon, Intex, Celkon and Spice will also be producing Android-One based phones. Google wants Android One to be a highly vied for software especially in the range of sub-$100 price range though Micromax Canvas Nitro is likely to be stretched out a little too far.
