LG Electronics is set to launch a new phone that will be powered by its self-made processor-Odin. Korea’s established handset vendor, LG, will launch this mid-range phone later this month. This long-rumored self-made application processor of LG is a System on a Chip processor for mobile similar to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon or Samsung’s Exynos.

Even as it is not yet confirmed if the launch will be done globally or just in Korea, it is rumored that the handset will be named with a derivative of G3. Initially the speculation was the Odin-AP will be launched with a flagship model but now the rumors are that the AP will be launched as a test-run model.

It is said that the company had been planning this launch from 2012 but problems like unexpected overheating and rapid consumption of electricity kept popping up that forced the company to postpone the plans repeatedly. This new AP will be based on ARM Coretex-A15 architecture and will support full-HD resolution with the ARM big LITTLE multi-core processor configuration.
