Lenovo recently announced that it is ready to launch the highly anticipated Z1 (Zuk 1) in the Indian market. However, this handset will be launched under the sub-brand named ZUK. According to our sources, the prime intention behind creating this sub-brand is to compete with the likes of Xiaomi, a brand that has greatly succeeded in capturing a part of the handset market in India.

In terms of looks, the ZUK Z1 is way ahead of Lenovo’s existing handsets. We’ll talk about the design in a bit, but before that, let’s have a look at the specs.

  • 5.5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution

  • Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop)

  • 2.5 GHz Quad-Core processor

  • 3GB RAM

  • 64GB of internal storage capacity

  • 13MP Primary Camera

  • 8MP Secondary Camera

  • 4100 mAh Li-Po battery

No doubt, the specs leave no room for disappointment. However, there has been no word yet on the ‘Price’ front. The handset was launched in China with a price tag of $285, which is roughly equal to Rs. 19, 000. All those features at just 19K seem to be quite justified.

A standard 5.5-inch display, a 2.5 GHz processor, and a 3GB RAM may not excite you much. But, an internal storage space of 64GB, a 13MP Primary camera, 8MP front-facing camera, and, above all, a 4100 mAh battery is sure to catch your attention.

As discussed earlier, the ZUK Z1 looks quite different from other Lenovo handset models. While the front seems to be dominated by a glass extending up to the frame, the rear panel has a curve meant to offer a better grip. The Zuk logo finds its spot at the back in the bottom-centre. As Zuk is the sub-brand, we may possibly not see any Lenovo branding on the device.

The power buttons and the volume controls are placed on the right, which is indeed the most appropriate spot. The USB charging port and the speaker grille can be found at the bottom while a 3.5mm audio jack is located at the top. So, in terms of design, Lenovo gets it right! However, it weighs around 175 grams, which is, in fact, what makes it a bit heavy. But, that shouldn’t be a turn-off if a powerful handset is what you are looking for.

Zuk Z1 comes with an internal storage capacity of 64GB, which is quite impressive. There is no option to further extend the storage space. However, 64 GB should be sufficient enough to store your regular data. Taking it all a step further is a powerful 4100 mAh battery, offering a maximum talk time of up to 38 hours.

Final Verdict

If we were to rate the specification on a scale of 1 to 10, we would probably give it a 9, and why not? The features are quite impressive. Also, there seems to be a complete overhaul in terms of design which will definitely not disappoint you.
