Kim Kardashian and Kanye West tied the knot this weekend! Whilst all of us were busy planning what to do on a very hot Saturday evening, the couple was busy making merry in Europe, namely Paris, France and Florence, Italy.
Kimye got married at the very historic Forte di Belvedere in Florence with Italy’s famed tenor, Andrea Bocelli singing when Kim walked down the aisle on Saturday. Kim wore a Givenchy Haute Couture gown designed for her by Riccardo Tisci. The to-die-for gown was long sleeved with a back cut out. Kim looked radiant with open hair and flawless makeup. Kanye wore a suit designed, again, by their good friend Riccardo Tisci and North, their 11-month old daughter wore a dress again by Givenchy. Wow!
With nearly week long celebrations and with A listers in attendance, Kimye will definitely need a week more to go through their mile-long receipt. Kim arranged for a private bachelorette dinner with her girlfriends in Paris on Thursday at Hôtel Costes, which houses Paris’s top restaurant. Post the dinner, Kim and her friends (the sisters went the other way after dinner) went for a night time stroll at the Louvre for group pictures. Though extravagant, nothing could beat the next day’s pre wedding rehearsal dinner. Taken place in the Palace of Versailles, along with a private guided tour arranged for the guests, Kanye reportedly shelled out a lot of money to have Lana Del Rey perform for the now Mrs. West especially her favourite song ‘Young and Beautiful’. With the Palace being a no-fly zone on Friday, it led to the speculation of the actual wedding also taking place over there. But Kimye surprised us all.
After having the guests stay at the Hotel George V in Paris, they were flown to Florence, Italy the next morning in private jets where cars were waiting to take them to the venue. But actually that’s what the power couple would do. The guests could also get their hair and makeup done and basically glam themselves up at the wedding all at the expense of the couple.
The venue decoration is another story. 20 ft. walls surrounding the venue were adorned with a rare flower (or rare at this time of the year), bushels of tuberose. These walls were gigantic replicas of the flower wall that Kanye gifted Kim during Mother’s Day.
But it is not over. John Legend also sang ‘All of Me’, for the couple during the wedding reception. Italy’s top chefs Annie Féolde and her husband, Giorgio Pinchiorri heading Gelateo catering company, catered for the event. The extravagant Tuscan cuisine was topped off with a 7 tier cake again provided by Gelateo.
With 600 guests in attendance, Kanye introduced Kim as, “My baby, Kim Kardashian West” post the ceremony, finally laying to rest the bajillion rumours of their wedding since 2013. Kimye has come a long way from the speculation of their brewing romance in 2012 whether it was serious or just for show to Baby North’s arrival last June, to the proposal at the park with a little help from a 50-piece orchestra. We wish them all the luck in the world and congratulate them on their wedding!
