Jolla, the first smartphone to run on the Sailfish Operating System is all set to launch at the end of this month. The company has decided to first handover all pre-booked devices and later make the rest available in stores by early December this year. At first, the handset is expected to cost somewhere around Rs. 35000, which does seem a bit expensive. But, is it truly worth a price tag that high? Let have a look at the specifications to find out.

  • 4.5-inch display
  • 1.4 GHz dual-core processor
  • 1 GB RAM
  • SailFish Operating System
  • 8 MP primary camera
  • 2 MP secondary camera
  • 2100 mAh battery

A 4.5 inch screen might seem a bit smaller, if you are already using a smartphone with a larger display. At least a 5-inch display would have been better. 16 GB of internal storage is definitely not bad. However, if that’s not enough, you can further extend it upto 64 GB using a microSD card. No doubt, the handset does pack in a bunch of not-so-awesome features, but one thing surely won’t disappoint you – the design. Moreover, the SailFish OS can run Android Apps, which comes in as a good news for Android users planning to make a switch.

Being the only smartphone loaded with the SailFish OS, Jolla is less likely to face serious competition at least for now. But, you can surely expect a few more SailFish devices in the next couple of years going head to head with the Android and the iOS biggies.
