1. Lakme Fashion Week - Winter Festive | August
It is the first fashion show to be held ever in India. Considered to be premier fashion event in India, this fashion week is the most popular one. It is a bi-annual event which happens in Mumbai. The Summer-Resort show takes place in Feb or March while the Winter-Festive show happens in August. International labels, sought- after Indian designers like Manish Malhotra, Anamika Khanna, Rohit Bal, and famous celebrities -all look forward to be a part of this celebration of fashion. 2. Bangalore Fashion Week | 23rd to 26th July
Again a bi-annual fashion event, this is held every year in the city of Bangalore in the months of January and July generally. This year it is scheduled to be held from the 23rd July 2015 – 26th July 2015. The participation is strictly by invitation and each participating designer has to undergo a stringent jury, which selects the designer on basis of innovation and authenticity of their designs. International designers are also invited to the event, dedicating a special section for them, so as to connect them to Indian fashion scene.
3. India Fashion Week | October
India Fashion Week is scheduled twice every year in the capital of India, New Delhi. Typically this is held in March and October showcasing the summer and winter collections respectively. This event is promoted by Fashion design council of India, which is the national body for fashion. More than hundred designers participate in this event, including a mix of eminent and young, upcoming designers. This event is a complete showcase of talent across India.
4. India Bridal Fashion Week | July - September
India Bridal Fashion week touches fashion for the most auspicious and luxurious occasions in India- The big fat Indian wedding. This event targets the rich and famous who would like to make a lifestyle statement by dressing up in these beautifully designed bridal couture.
This is the only event that is held in 2 cities- Delhi and Mumbai, typically between July –September. Spreading the grandeur over 5 days, this event showcases designs by India’s top designers.
