An event very close to all fashionistas’ hearts, Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015, exceeded all expectations in terms of fashion, creativity, glamour and everything in between. An eventful week with designs that were a class apart, celebs that dazzled the ramp, designers that set the runway alight with creative designs and the audiences that could do nothing but stare in awe and admiration, we bring you highlights of the wonderful event.

Designs Marked a whole new level
While our favourite designers never fail to amuse us, this time it reached a completely new level. Some designers presented their designs with a motive of communicating a serious message; some presented a bold collection for the likes of equally bold individuals while other seemed to be chic and stylish in order to suit the needs of the masses.
MANISH MALHOTRA – The Blue Runway Collection
Manish Malhotra presented The Blue Runway Collection in association with Wevolve campaign and brought the audiences’ attention to Gender Based Violence.
Salitha Nanda presented a colourful collection with bold geometric patterns and Picasso style artwork on her clothing.
Sabyasachi Mukherjee opened the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015 with his aesthetic and colourful designs that definitely grabbed all eye balls.
And again, a surprise! This time Gauri Khan debuted her exotic collection, ‘Tropical Wonder’ under the clothing line of Satya Paul.
While that’s not all, there were many more designers like Pallavi Singh, Masaba Gupta, Anita Dongre, Tarun Tahiliani and many others who set the stage on fire with their fantastic designs.
Stars shined on the runway
Bollywood actors and actresses have always walked the ramp at fashion weeks to add more glamour to the already shiny event. This year, Vidya Balan walked the ramp for Gaurang Shah in a lovely Kanjeevaram Saree and looked lovely in her South Indian attire.
Riteish Deshmukh walked the ramp for Raghavendra Rathore with a brocade Nehru jacket and a black kurta and looked extremely handsome.
Shraddha Kapoor walked the ramp for United Colors of Benetton and looked chic as always in their fabulous clothing line especially designed keeping in mind the interests of the lively and fashion-loving masses.
Aditya Roy Kapoor walked the ramp for Tom Tailor and looked dapper dressed in a black leather jacket teamed with a printed Tom Tailor blue shirt and dark denims by Tom Tailor Denim. While Monica Dogra displayed her edgy side in black scuba pants by Tom Tailor and a Tom Tailor leather jacket.
Stars flooded the front seats at LFW ’15
Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin, Sunny Leone, Sri Devi, Dia Mirza, Kajol, Vivek Oberoi, and Jacqueline Fernandez… Phew! The list of the celebrities that attended the event is literally endless!
Rohit Bal’s statement also became a highlight of the event. “It’s the only reason I can afford to buy these [Corneliani] shoes. Otherwise I wouldn’t be surviving. Let’s face it, my bread, my butter, my jam, everything comes from bridal. I’m so, so thankful to all of you gorgeous girls and guys who spend incredible amounts of money to get married. Big hand for big-bang Indian weddings. Love it.” That’s what the quirky designer had to say about Indian Weddings and Fashion. Very true indeed!!!
Celebrity actress and designer flaunting her spark for fashion
Mandira Bedi presented her elegant collection as the evergreen Shabana Azmi walked the ramp for her in a glittering red sari with a turquoise blue blouse.
Her designs were extremely beautiful with sarees that ranged from gold, yellow, pink, magenta, orange made in assorted silk and brocade borders.
