One of the biggest fashion events of the country has once again set new fashion statements for bride-to-be. The 4 day event gave us all many fashion lessons to keep in mind while shopping for the coming wedding season. IBFW is always a big deal, however, this time it was huge and it has only just begun! The Delhi show was a fantastic collection of bridal attire for a contemporary Indian bride; but there’s a lot more awesomeness in store for us. The shows that are set to take place at Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Chennai in the coming months are going to be just as exciting!
But for now, let’s take a look at what went down at the BMW India Bridal Fashion Week 2015, Delhi.
Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla have been a tremendous contribution to the country’s fashion industry. This awesome duo opened the show with a bang! Sonam Kapoor gracefully walked down the ramp in a golden studded gown while the crowd swayed on Lana Del Rey’s ‘Young and Beautiful’.
The models presented the beautiful collection by the duo which had warm hues and the heavy pieces were beautifully crafted.
Sonam Kapoor looked especially gorgeous on her second round of the ramp in a heavily studded traditional red lehenga.
Day 2 was even better with more celebrities walking the ramp! The second day had 3 shows each with their own unique concepts for the bridal attires that were displayed.
Ashima Leena’s collection consisted of Temple jewellery and was inspired by South Indian style drapes.
While Ashima Leena went with the traditional bride, Falguni and Shane Peacock turned to European romance with their cocktail gowns collection. Athiya Shetty and Sooraj Pancholi surprised the crowd as they walked down the ramp looking like a prince and princess just out of a fairytale!
Tarun Tahiliani however kept it on the low in the beginning by displaying a collection that was strictly traditional with watercolour ivory, pale blues, peaches and pinks. The final surprise however left everyone breathless as Lisa Haydon walked down the ramp as the ‘Golden Bride’.
The third day had 3 shows too which again displayed the talent of 3 of India’s best designers.
Rina Dhaka’s Bohemian brides gracefully swayed down the ramp with floral crowns while Akshara Haasan closed the show as a lovely bride in pink.
Jyotsna Tiwari also had a flower related collection that wooed the crowd away with it’s gracefulness. Sarah-Jane Dias closed the show in a beautiful red gown.
And last but not the least; JJ Valaya’s collection was an intense mixture of Russian and Indian tradition combined to create the perfect soviet style Indian bridal wear.
The 4-day event ended with a bang just like it had begun. There were 2 shows on the closing day and they couldn’t have gotten any better than they already were.
Gauri & Nainika’s collection consisted mostly of gowns and cocktail-wear which added a refreshing change to the otherwise bridal collection we saw during the event. The duo worked with Black to create illustrations that were used as prints in the collection which looked like perfect options for post-wedding getaways.
