If Apple TV, Roku, Netfix, and all the other Internet streaming TV set top box isn’t enough, then here comes one more. Internet major Google is said to be working on a ‘Nexus TV’ that will be powered by its operating system Android which could also stream videos from YouTube along with offering a selection of video games. The nexus TV is believed to provide many facilities that all the contemporaries fail to deliver and its scheduled to land in 2014.

According to reports, the set-to-box may also contain a Kinect-like motion sensor and could be controlled with an Android smartphone. A purpose-built touchpad remote is also believed to enhance the working capabilities of this device. Nexus TV will also allow the people to stream content from the Internet like Netflix, Hulu; but will most probably not feature the live broadcast option. This would be Google’s second attempt into the television industry as the company had early launched a small HDMI plug-in that looks like a memory stick for streaming content to the television, named Chromecast.

What are your thoughts on the rumored Nexus TV? Do you think Google has what it takes to make a dent in the world of smart TVs, Rokus, Apple TVs, and other set-top boxes?Google is aiming to aggressively price the upcoming Nexus TV. It will be interesting to see if consumers are willing to accommodate a full-fledged set-top box in their living room or will still prefer the tiny Chromecast dongle for streaming needs.
