Frozen bags Oscars for Best Animated film

At the recently held 86th Academy Awards, animation movie ‘Frozen’ won the ‘Best Film’ award. Frozen defeated other contenders like ‘The Croods’ a comedy film on caveman; ‘Despicable Me 2’; ‘The Wind Rises’ by Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki; and a French film ‘Ernest & Celestine’.

A film by Walt Disney Animation Studios, it is based on the classic fairytale ‘The Snow Queen’ by Hans Christian Andersen. The movie is all about how a brave princess sets off to locate her sister in an icy Scandinavian realm. She is accompanied by a mountain man, a pet reindeer and a snowman on this rescue journey which turns into a trip full of adventure and excitement.

Directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, the film revolves around adventurous Anna (voice articulated by Kristin Bell) and her estranged sister Elsa (voice articulated by Idina Menzel), the princesses of Arendelle. Elsa inadvertently unleashes an unending winter upon their kingdom (Arendelle) after an emotional outbreak at her coronation. She runs away from the empire and Anna sets off to seek out for Elsa in order to save their country and also mend their estranged relationship.

The movie’s signature song ‘Let It Go’ also bagged the Best Original Song award in Oscars. Frozen has already bagged a Golden Globe, BAFTA for Best Animated Film, as well five Annie Awards.
