Prepare Fish Kofta Curry With A Handful of Ingredients

Fishes form a staple food of millions in our country. They not just taste great, but are also rich in numerous nutrients. Being one of the finest sources of proteins and Omega-3 fatty acids, fishes are considered to be really healthy.

But, eating a simple fish curry every day can be monotonous and boring. So, why not add a twist to it and still enjoy the health benefits. Here is how you can prepare this yummicious delight at home with simple ingredients.

  • 1kg white fish fillets

  • 3 medium onions

  • 1 bay leaf

  • 2 green chilies, chopped

  • ¼ cup coriander, chopped

  • 1egg

  • 2 tablespoon fresh breadcrumbs

  • 250g ghee

  • 1clove garlic, chopped

  • 1teaspoon ground coriander

  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin

  • 1teaspoon ground turmeric

  • 1teaspoon chili powder

  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger

  • 250g tomatoes, finely chopped

  • 1 ½ cups (310 ml) water


1. Take the fish in a frying pan and add a little water along with chopped onion (almost half the quantity) and bay leaf

2. Simmer on low flame until tender

3. Remove the fish and strain

4. Do not throw the liquid, keep it aside for later use

5. In a large bowl, mash the fish fillets and add green chilies, egg, coriander and breadcrumbs

6. Take a spoonful of this mixture and shape into balls

7. Now, melt half the ghee in a frying pan and fry the fish kofta balls over medium heat till they turn golden brown

8. In case, you like dry kofta balls, you can enjoy it with green chutney

9. Blend the onion (1 ½ onion) along with coriander, garlic, cumin, turmeric and ginger into a paste

10. Slice the remaining onion and sauté it along with the prepared spice paste for about 5 minutes

11. Now, add the tomatoes and cook covered for some time

12. Add 1 ¼ cup (310 ml) water to the reserved liquid and bring it to a boil

13. For the final step, add the fish kofta balls and let it simmer on a low flame for about 10 minutes

14. Garnish with finely chopped fresh coriander leaves
