After the phenomenal success of the HTC One, which was hailed by critics as one of the best smartphones from HTC, the company faltered a bit and began incurring losses due a couple of new flagships that didn’t really work. HTC phone were known for their awesome build quality and overall supreme performance, but in the past couple of years, the Taiwanese manufacturer failed to live up to its own expectations.
All that is about to become a thing of the past because of the latest and the much-anticipated flagship called the HTC One 10. The device went through a series of names, the M10 being the last one, but at the announcement they apparently dropped the M and now it’s simply called the HTC 10, and we agree with them. The simpler the better. The HTC 10 was made with the sole goal of bouncing back with a bang, and it has the potential to bring HTC back to its glory days. But can it do it? Let’s find out.
HTC really put everything they could into this device to make it a worthy model, beginning with an excellent metallic body. The phone is a sight to behold and a pleasure to hold. It is housed within a sturdy metal unibody with a rarely seen chamfer on the back of the phone. The wide chamfer is designed to make the phone ergonomically better and it does really help. This mobile phone offers a rock solid feel and it seems as if it might even withstand some powerful blows or accidental falls.
HTC have been known to pay great attention to acoustics and they have continued that trend. The phone features a speaker at the top and a mini-subwoofer at the bottom to give the sound a necessary punch.
Another great department that the house of HTC works on is the camera. The HTC 10 now features the world’s first selfie camera with Optical Image Stabilization. It’s a 5 MP shooter and the OIS will surely be helpful. The rear camera is a 12 MP UltraPixel shooter, also with Optical Image Stabilization and 1.55µm pixel size. HTC claims that it is probably the best phone camera in the world.
The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 820 2.2 Ghz Quad core processor.
So an excellent all-round device that threatens to be a worthy competitor to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the innovative LG G5.
