It’s just around the corner and you know the gifts you had listed out that you could buy for him are completely out of the question. And he’s right not to accept those, after all, what’s the need of buying expensive material gifts when you can make something for him that he can actually use and cherish?

Light & Fluffy Shaving Cream

Shaving is an essential for all males. Some people use shaving creams, while others use normal soap to get the job done. But you’d be surprised to know how expensive even a shaving cream tube costs in this day and age. So, here’s a simple DIY that will help you make some nice fluffy and fragrant shaving cream that you can store and gift your dad this Father’s Day. He’ll definitely appreciate the gesture.

What you need

  • 1/3 c. Coconut Oil

  • 1/3 c. Shea Butter

  • 1/4 c. Olive Oil

Method

  • Melt shea butter and coconut oil on a low heat on a stove

  • Pour the melted mixture into a container, add olive oil and stir

  • Set this mixture in the fridge and let it harden

  • Once it’s solid, take it out and put it into a bowl

  • Whip it until its light and fluffy

  • Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark area

Necktie Glasses Case

Most men get glasses by the age of 30-40 and it’s a big possibility that your dad has one too. But instead of that drab old case that he uses to keep his glasses safe, why not try something more fun and colourful? Try this simple DIY and he’ll have yet another useful gift this Father’s Day.

What you need

  • A colourful tie

  • Scissors

  • Thread and needle

  • A button

Method

  • Cut the tie 17 inches from the point

  • Fold 1″ of the cut edge toward the back of the tie and whipstitch it in place.

  • Use a seam ripper to remove the hand-sewn center seam enough to accommodate your glasses

  • Fold the length of the tie over the back, tucking in the very end about an inch

  • Pin the 2 layers together and hand-sew them along both sides with a hemstitch or a tiny whipstitch

  • Fold the tip of the tie over to make a flap

  • Sew a button on the outside of this flap

  • Glue Velcro dots under the button to hold your case closed. Once the glue is dry, your glasses are good to go.

What you need

  • Pretty paper plate

  • Clock kit

  • Pen

  • Velcro

Method

  • Using your pen, mark the center of the plate with a circle and carefully poke a small hole through

  • Take the back of the clock piece and stick it through the small hole so that the metal part is pushed all the way in

  • Every clock kit is different but usually a metal ring is present which you need to push down first from the front side of the clock into the metal that was pushed from behind

  • Then add both the hands one at a time

  • Insert batteries

  • Add a strip of Velcro on the back of the clock and one on the wall and its ready!
