20th September 2015 turned out to be an amazing night for the people of Westeros, two vice presidents, transgendered women, and quirky New Englanders. If this bafflegab sounds familiar to you, hi-five!!! We’re on the same page. The 67th Primetime Emmy Awards concluded hours ago at the Microsoft Theatre in California and this year brought many surprises with it. Here’s a round-up of the event.

GAME OF THRONES took the Throne, finally!!! – Outstanding Drama Series

5 seasons of madness, and we still can’t get enough of this. Of all the seasons, the 5th was the weakest in terms of engagement and story (still trying to get over the last scene of the finale!!!). And ironically, this year GOT finally won its first ‘best-drama series’ award. This couldn’t be called as an upset really but it could over-haul the 4th time winner “Mad Men”, that’s enough, isn’t it?.

Veep – Outstanding Comedy Series

It was raining ‘HBO’ at the awards as if. ‘Veep’ finally managed to break the norm in this category. ‘Modern Family’ ruled this space for 5 years.

Jon Hamm - Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series

It took 8 attempts for Jon Hamm to win is first Emmy, and yes he deserved it! Mad Men finished its run last spring and ‘Don Draper’ finally held the trophy, signing off on a good note.

Viola Davis - Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series

This intriguing Drama series surely got everyone hooked on (can’t wait for season 2) and for one particular reason – Annalise Keating, the high-powered defence attorney. Viola Davis was certainly outstanding in her portrayal of the character in ‘How To Get Away With Murder‘. She now becomes the first African-American woman to win a Primetime Emmy!!!

Jeffrey Tambor - Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

Another ‘first’ here – after 6 attempts Jeffery Tambor won his first award for his transgender character in Amazon’s groundbreaking series, ‘Transparent

Peter Dinklage – Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

The scorned scion of a dominant family surviving by his wits has been one of the most loved characters in the recent years. Peter Dinklage has certainly entertained us with his witty one-liners. The imp from ‘Game of Thrones‘ triumphs again!!!

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss - Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series (Game of Thrones)

Although there seem to be more bloodshed when David Benioff and D.B. Weiss tell us the story penned by George R.R. Martin, these two guys are keeping all of us on the edge.

David Nutter – Outstanding Director Drama Series (Game of Thrones)

Am sure every single GOT fan has cursed the creators of the series for this one episode, ‘Mother’s Mercy’. The season 5 finale saw John Snow getting killed (almost dead) by his compatriots and Cersei being shamed and humiliated.
