Monsoon is here and with all the pitter-patter, down comes the rain, rain and more rain.

While the earth soaks in all the love from the sky, and you drench yourself in happiness, you surely feel like treating yourself with some lip smacking snacks and delicacies. And if these snacks are healthy too, it would be just perfect!

Corn is available in abundance during monsoons. Choose the freshest and sweetest of corns available in the stores or markets and try on these tasty dishes.

What can be tastier than a plateful of hot pakoras during monsoons!!! Sitting in the balcony, munching on these crispy snacks watching the raindrops fall on the ground would be a delight.

It does not take more than 15 minutes to prepare this one. Just Enjoy!


Corn Kernels

1 1/2 cup

Grated Cheese

1 cup


For frying

Ching’s Schezwan chutney

3 tablespoons


4 tablespoons

Corn flour

1 1/2 tablespoons

Baking soda

1/4 teaspoon


4-5 tablespoon


  1. Thaw the corn kernals and let them cool

  2. Coarsely grind the corn

  3. In a mixing bowl, take the corn, cheese, schezwan chutney, refined flour, corn flour and baking soda and coriander. Mix the ingredients properly with hand.

  4. Make small balls using the mixture and keep them aside

  5. Take oil in a kadai. Slide these small balls into hot oil and deep fry them

  6. When you see them crisp and golden in colour; get them out of the oil and drain them well

  7. Arrange them in a serving tray, garnishing it with strips of green and red capsicum

  8. Serve hot with a chutney/sauce of your choice

After getting wet in the rains, when you feel slightly cold, you want to much on something piping hot and spicy. Try these yummy bread rolls this rainy season.


Corn Kernels

1 cup

Chopped veggies

1 cup


1 cup


For frying



Green chillies


Ginger garlic paste

1 teaspoon

Black Pepper powder

As per taste


As per taste

Coriander Leaves

1 tablespoon


  1. Boil the corn kernels and drain then. Crush the corn kernels.

  2. Take a mix of vegetables you like; typically carrots, French beans, capsicum and cauliflower. Chop them finely and boil them. Do not boil them too much in case you like them crunchy.

  3. Mix the corn, veggies, salt, pepper, coriander, chillies, ginger-garlic paste and sugar. Keep the mixture aside.

  4. Cut each bread slice into 4 squares. Dip the bread square in like and squeeze the excess milk.

  5. Take 2 squares of bread and stuff the corn mixture on one side of each bread square. Seal the 4 sides of the bread tightly. Repeat this for all the slices.

  6. Deep fry these rolls on medium heated oil until they are crispy and golden. Drain them on a tissue paper to get rid of the excess oil.

  7. Serve it hot with a chutney or sauce of your choice
