Superleggera in Italian means ‘super-light’, and Ducati Motor Holding has aptly named its new limited edition, the 1199 Superleggera. This motorcycle is a lighter version of the 1199 Panigale and they have achieved this with the use of cutting edge materials such as titanium, magnesium and carbon fibre. The 1199 Superleggera houses a 1198cc, L-twin, liquid-cooled four-stroke engine which generates maximum power of 200bhp at 11500rpm and peak torque of 13.66kgm at 10200rpm. The Superleggera uses four titanium valves per cylinder in its head and also houses titanium connecting rods.
This limited edition 1199 tips the scales at 177kg which results in a staggering power to weight ratio. Ducati claim to have sold 75 percent of the 500 units which will be produced of this limited edition novel motorcycle. Enthusiasts attending the 2013 edition of the EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan are set to have a glimpse of limited edition motorcycle. Yet Ducati has not revealed the pricing and launch details of Superleggera.
Without a doubt, the Ducati 1199 Superleggera will grab eyeballs on the tarmac.
