UNICEF has proved that dolls aren’t just for young girls anymore! Prada, Chanel and Christian Dior are among dozens of fashion houses taking a momentary pause from the red-carpet elite to design a series of dolls for charity. The non-profit organisation has tapped 42 fashion designers to participate in the eleventh edition of its designer dolls initiative, which is called ‘Les Frimousses’, or little faces.
This year, a total of 93 pieces are being conceived. Also taking part are seven interior designers and 36 artist. Proceeds from the initiative entitled “Designers’ Little Faces” will be used to fund vaccinations for children in Sudan’s Darfur region. The miniature figurines, that sport be-jeweled skirt-suits and satin full skirts, will go under the hammer in Paris on December 2 in an auction organised by the UNICEF.
These designer dolls don’t come cheap, but it’s all in a good cause!
