Born to a Marathi Brahmin family in Mumbai, this microbiology graduate made her first appearance with ‘Abodh’ in 1984 opposite Bengali star Taposh Pal. Although the movie was not successful in box-office, but Madhuri got observed for her performance and dancing proficiency. It was 1988 film ‘Tezaab’ and her performance in popular song ‘Ek Do Teen’ that made Madhuri, darling of millions hearts.
In her three-decade long career, this beautiful diva has worked with several talented directors and actors. Some of her movies that has been lauded by critics and viewers alike are ‘Ram Lakhan’, ‘Prem Pratigya’, ‘Parindaa’, ‘Kishan Kanhaiya’, ‘Dil’, ‘Deewana Mujsa Nahin’, ‘Saajan’, ‘Khalnayak’, ‘Beta’, ‘Hum Aapke Hai Kaun’, ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’, ‘Devdas’…the list goes on .
In 2008, Madhuri Dixit was honoured with Padma Shri for her contribution to Indian cinema. Post-marriage, Madhuri Dixit-Nene managed to make a successful comeback to the glamorous Bollywood with Aaja Nachle (2007), Dedh Ishqiya (2014) and Gulaab Gang (2014) enacting eccentric roles.
