The burger fans of India who wish to try something new apart from McDonald’s have a great news- Burger King- world’s second largest burger chain is soon to launch in India. With around 13,000 restaurants in 100 countries, this US chain has finalised on three cities in India- Gurgaon, Noida and Mumbai.
Tanmay Kumar, Chief financial officer of Burger King confirmed that the restaurant will be launched in the fourth quarter of the current calendar, in India. Currently the burger market in India is dominated by McDonald’s and with this new entry, the competition is expected to heat up. Retail consultancy Technopak has recently reported that, there are high chances of Indian food service market to soar to $92 billion (Rs 5.52 lakh crore) by 2020 from $48 billion (Rs 2.88 lakh crore).
This US chain had been eyeing the Indian market for long, and after prvious failed attempts, the revived talks were made in 2013 to set up base in the country. With the launch, Burger King will join a list of fast-food brands which includes Yum Brands, McDonald’s, restaurants such as KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell, and Subway. These exiting fast food lines have already made their marks in the last decade and a half in India and now it is the chance of Burger King. Burger King to enter Indian market
