It has been a great year for the auto enthusiasts with many new cars rolling out in the first quarter. For the BMW aspirants and potential buyers, the excitement reaches a new high as this German auto manufacturer has plans to launch two new high-performance SUVs, BMW X4 and X6, variants in India soon.
Here’s a comprehensive overview of the BMW X4 that will make its début at the forthcoming New York International Auto Show in April 2014 followed by X6 during the latter part of the year.
Likely to be presented in petrol and diesel variants, the BMW X4 will come with regular features such as an automatic tailgate opening, sports leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles, variable sports steering package, BMW’s Performance Control and Park Distance Control at the back.
Also, it will be equipped with a touch-sensitive surface on the new iDrive Touch Controller which is available in combination with the Navigation System Professional enabling drivers or passengers to type in the required text, the BMW X4 becomes, even more, user friendly.
In India, BMW is likely to present the X4 with the turbocharged, 4-cylinder xDrive28i making 248PS and a series topping xDrive35i, making 310PS. The 6-cylinder, twin turbocharged xDrive35i is able to attain 0-100kmph in 5.5 seconds and on to 250kmph – it’s the best speed.
Car enthusiasts could also look out for yet another entry level variant fitted with xDrive20i and powered with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine that makes 189PS, impelling the car from 0-100kmph in about 8.1 seconds.
Expected to be launched by the year end in the price brackets of Rs 60 – 65 lakhs approx, the X4 variant will be available via the CBU (completely built unit) route. Guess it should be worth waiting for!!
