The Best Of Arijit Singh – The Journey So Far

August 5, 2015 308 0 0

It was only a decade ago when the Indian audience got enthused by the concept of a ‘reality show’. India’s first Indian Idol got celebrity treatment for a time period that could be analogically compared to the ‘blink of an eye’. The rest I say is ‘history’. Post Indian Idol, Indian telly was flooded with singing shows (I mean every channel had their own version of Indian Idol with a different name). One of the shows, if you would recall was Fame Gurukul (2005). It was in this show that, a 19-year old hesitant guy participated but fortunately (because we know the fate of people who’ve won the titles :P) did not win it. Later, after participating and winning another reality show, 10 Ke 10 Le Gaye Dil, he built his own recording setup and started assisting Shankar Mahadevan. Arijit was yet to establish himself in the industry but even so he was very particular while choosing songs. On one such occasion he even refused Shankar Mahadevan’s proposal!!!

Although that Arijit recorded his debut Bollywood track (Phir Mohabbat – Murder 2) in the year 2009 with Mithoon, it was released in 2011. It was only after the release of ‘Tum Hi Ho’ – Ashiqui 2, that Arijit Singh got recognition for his work. And we all know what happened after that, don’t we!!! Currently, he is ruling the Bollywood charts with his soulful voice. Here, we list the best of Arijit Singh.

The Best Of Arijit Singh – Top 10 Songs

1. Phir Mohabbat – Murder 2

Unplugged tracks are always soothing. The original song was Arijit’s first Bollywood track. However, the unplugged version of this song sounds so much better.

2. Phir Le Aaya Dil – Barfi

Although Rekha Bhardwaj’s voice is mesmerizing in the original track, Arijit’s reprise version is equally brilliant – perfect song for a windy evening.

3. Main Rang Sharbaton Ka – Phata Poster Nikla Hero

There’s something about Arijit – Pritam combination. The duo has certainly given some superb compositions together. If the ghazal ‘Phir Le Aaya Dil’ from Barfi was soulful, this one is romance at its best.

4. Duaa – Shanghai

Composed by Vishal & Shekhar, this is one of those songs where Arijit’s hold on high notes is clearly depicted – Elegant and Emotional!!!

5. Muskurane – City Lights

Composed by Jeet Ganguli, the romantic version of the song sounds terrific.

PS: Guitars players who use ‘Am’ in the 2nd verse of the song would know how lovely the transformation sounds.

6. Tum Hi Ho – Ashiqui 2

The list would have been incomplete without this one. I don’t need to give you reasons to like the song, do I?

7. Suno Na Sangemarmar – Youngistan

He has a knack for romantic numbers and this one certainly one of his best.

8. Khamoshiyaan (title track) – Khamoshiyaan

Although, the movie didn’t do too well at the Box Office, the title track of the movie certainly struck the right chords.

9. Gulon Mein Rang Bhare – Haider

Bharadwaj’s idiosyncratic composition with Gulzar’s lyrics and Arjit’s voice – this is bliss.

10. Tose Naina – Micky Virus

This song demonstrates Arijit’s husky voice. He can be as effective with his base macho vocals as he is with the high notes.
