After the much awaited iPhone 6 launch, Apple has announced their first ever smart watch – the Apple watch. This announcement was on stage during the iPhone6 launch event.
Although it never revealed all the specification of the device, here are few speculations about the hardware of the device –
Apparently the watch will be available in two variants: 38mm and 42mm.
Polished or space black stainless steel, retina touch screen display with Force Touch and sapphire glass cover, taptic engine and built-in speaker combo for instant tactile feedback.
Custom S1 SiP (System in Package) chip, accelerometer, built-in heart rate sensor, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 4.0, Special Digital Crown Home button, Mag Safe wireless charging, compatibility with iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Apple Pay and Siri support.
Like regular watches, the Apple Watch will have a dial on the side which is equipped with sensors. These sensors will convert the movement into data for display. The ‘Dial Crown’, as it is called by Apple will form the primary platform for entering data.
Screen size, on-board memory and battery life are few features that have not been revealed yet. The launch is expected to be in early 2015 so the Apple fans will have to wait for few more months to get their hands on this smart device.
Estimated to be priced at $349, the Apple Watch could cost around £300 in the UK.
