Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor — who crossed over to Hollywood with Oscar winning film Slumdog Millionaire, followed by a guest-starring role as Middle Eastern President Omar Hassan on season 8 of ’24’ — is adapting the hit series for Indian audiences.
Kapoor is planning to air ‘24‘ twice a week, is similar to its American counterpart. Slated to launch today at 10pm in Colors today, the series will see Anil Kapoor as ATU Chief Jai Singh Rathod.Colors promises viewer world-class quality in entertainment. With a unique real-time narration where a fictional story is told in a real world setting, in real time, viewers will be connected to every hour of Rathod’s battle against time. ’24’ will introduce the Indian audiences to a new hybrid genre of entertainment that sees an interesting amalgamation of fiction and reality.
The trailer of 24 also reveals some of the key characters in the show playing pivotal roles and gives viewers a sneak-peak into the fast-paced, edgy, gritty and gripping drama. The show marks the television debut of the Bollywood superstar and is backed by a stellar cast comprising of Mandira Bedi, Neil Bhoopalam, Tisca Chopra, Anita Raaj, Ajinkya Deo to name a few. The show will also see interesting cameos by celluloid stars like Anupam Kher, Shabana Azmi, Rahul Khanna and Richa Chadda.
Mandira Bedi will be called Nikita Rai, she will be seen adorning the same hairstyle that Sarah Clarke wore while playing Nina Myers. Like the original series, the Golden time ticker clock is also shown in the Indian version.
Though, in the original series, Elisha Cuthbert played the role of daughter of Jack Bauer, in the Indian version, name of Jai Singh’s daughter is yet not revealed. The role of the daughter is quite significant as will be clear once the series is on air. The trailer of the series then draws attention to a threat to the life of prime-ministerial candidate Aditya Singhania (Neil Bhoopalam). It is now ATU Chief’s and his trusted team’s responsibility to protect him. The trailer that flashes through several key sequences of a thrill-fest shows Jai Singh Rathod racing against time, where he is torn between the love for his family and his duty towards his country.
Providing action, thrill, suspense, drama and the exhilaration of solving complex cases in 24 hours, the show has been shot in various locales across Mumbai. 24 will have a fast-paced storyline featuring never-seen-before stunts, slick-edited sequences and high-definition recording.
