A Rewind of What Clicked in the World of Entertainment in 2014

When it comes to Entertainment, you would inevitably be talking about movies and music. If you are movie buff or an ardent music lover or even if you love both, you probably got the most of it last year. Yes, 2014 made way for some exciting movies which took creativity to a different level. Adding up to the spice were different genres of music and radio stations flooded with songs that got you up grooving. Let’s take a look at t some of the movies and songs that made it big last years, starting with the movies first.

With hundreds of them hitting the Silverscreen, it won’t be wrong to call 2014 the year of the Hollywood. From thriller to Romance, they had it all. However, a few managed to offer the audiences exactly what they were looking for – a whole bunch of entertainment. Below are a few selected names that made it to the top of the list this year.

Interstellar

Drought and famine has completely devastated the earth, causing extreme changes in the climate. While the humans are at the verge of extinction, a ray of hope is found. Scientists set out on a journey through a wormhole in search of a planet that has the right environment for human existence.

With a storyline so compelling, no wonder why the Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar turned out to be one of the most widely talked about movies of 2014.

Exodus: Gods and Kings

Starring Christian Bale as ‘Moses’, the film starts with him and his bother Ramses fighting to defend Egypt which is being ruled by their father Seti. During the battle, Moses saves his brother’s life. Ramses is worried as one of Seti’s spiritualists had prophesized that Moses will one day be the King.

After Seti’s death, Moses who is in fact a Jewish is banished. With the help of a wrathful God, Moses succeeds in becoming the leader of the Jewish people against the Egyptians.

Dumb and Dumber To

Directed by Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly, Dumb and Dumber To is the sequel of the 1994 film, Dumb and Dumber. Find out how Lloyd and Harry set out on a cross-country trip to trace Harry’s adopted daughter. While on their journey, they fall into the same old “dumb and dumber” habits.

Moving on from films let’s review some of the chartbuster music albums of the past year. Hip Hop, R & B, Country, Jazz – 2014 saw it all. At a night-out party or a wedding reception, I bet, you probably heard them now and again, and you still can’t have enough.

Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud

Do you have a playlist named “Lovesongs”? If yes, make sure to add up this one to the list. When the song released it was ranked 26 on the top UK Singles Chart list, but soon it climbed up to the top spot in November 2014. Written by Ed Sheeran and Amy Wadge, “Thinking Out Loud” was produced by Jake Gosling.

Nico & Vinz – Am I Wrong

Some things aren’t realistic and most of your dreams can never ever come true.” If that’s what you think, this cool song by the Norwegian duo is sure to prove you wrong. According to Nico & Vinz, the song was written with an intention to present the positive side of Africa.

Magic – Rude

The debut single by the Canadian reggae fusion band peaked within the top 10 in Australia, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden and New Zealand. The music features a boy asking his girlfriend’s father for her hand in marriage. He refuses not once but twice. However, the boy is determined to marry her and he does it anyway. That’s what the song is all about – “Marry that girl, marry her anyway”.
