I recently flocked to Vengurla with my partner and let me say, Vengurla is undoubtedly, the most extra-ordinary beach village of India. Situated on the border of Maharashtra and Goa, Vengurla is a quaint little beach town unfazed by the crowds and clear, pristine waters, unlike its more popular counterpart- Goa! Savour the untouched civilization, the divine ‘solkadi’- the native drink of the village and head for a cosy beach sunset with your special someone!
Perched in the interiors of Karnataka, Coorg is one of the most beautiful hill stations of South India. Hailed as the ‘Scotland of India’, Coorg is full of flowers, blooming and beautiful- right from the usual marigolds, to roses, to lilies, and hundreds of unknown flowers, trees, and plantations to people like us- the city dwellers. While the greens can get a bit monotonous, what really surprises about Coorg is that it’s an Indian coup. Well, wouldn’t that landscape make you feel think that you are in some European hamlet with the dream girl/boy of your life?
It would be a pity if Sikkim didn’t feature in our romantic escapades. Touted as the “must visit destination in 2014” by Lonely Planet, Sikkim features high on our must visit romantic destinations. What better way of celebrating life’s precious moments with your better half amidst snow-claden mountains, valleys or walking past colours in Yumthang- Sikkim’s flower of valleys, or a life time breath-taking excursions to one of world’s largest mountain lakes- Gurudongamar Lake!
Want to get adventurous with your better half? Want to rekindle the childlike passion with your loved one? Head straight to Pench National Park! Situated in in the lower southern reaches of the Satpuda hills, Pench National Park is named after the Pench river, meandering through the park from north to south. It is located on the southern boundary of Madhya Pradesh, bordering Maharashtra, in the districts of Seoni and Chhindwara. Interestingly, Pench Tiger Reserve is popular as the original setting in Rudyard Kipling’s most famous book- The Jungle Book. The area has a rich topography and is home to a varied mosiac of vegetation ranging from moist, sheltered valleys to open, dry deciduous forest. It is dominated by fairly open canopy, mixed forests with considerable shrub cover and open grassy patches. Why not indulge in the fresh forest air and meeting the wild inhabitants?
Stonehenge in your mind? Well head to India’s Stonehenge- Hampi! Popularly known as the land of ruins, Hampi promises you to take you back to the era of kings, queens, merchants and the dazzling rich heritage of India. While Hampi is known for its temple structures and ruins, we suggest you take a dekko at the relatively unvisited parts of human habitation. Apart from the colorful pots, mud houses, differently dressed people (some women are dressed in lehngas called as lamanis) are bound to catch your attention. How about a romantic dinner set in the paddy fields of Hampi?
