With our busy work schedule, it becomes a bit difficult to stick to a healthy diet. I remember the days when I would grab a greasy vada pav, a sinful chocolate brownie or even a cheese-loaded pizza whenever I felt hungry without thinking twice about the ill-effects of junk food. The problem for me was the inaccessibility to healthy food near my office and when I was out for meetings, I would eat anything that was available.

With time, I realised the importance of healthy food and now I make it a point to eat as healthy as possible. Carrying fruit in my bag has become an everyday affair. However, there is an extent to which we can eat fruit all the time.

I considered energy bars that are available in the market but these are loaded with sugar and artificial ingredients. But then I thought of making my own energy bars at home with not more than three ingredients! Quick and easy to make, these are my lifesaver now and I usually stack-up my office desk with these scrumptious delights to ward off hunger pangs.

I am listing down three easy recipes which you can whip up in a jiffy.

1. Dates bars

While dates and raisins are packed with antioxidants, walnuts contain a good dose of omega-3 fatty acids. This energy bar is nothing less than a healthy treat that can be  munched off anytime, anywhere.

  • Roast the walnuts slightly to add a toasty flavour to the bars

  • Combine the walnuts, raisins, and dates in a blender for 3-4 minutes (till the ingredients break into small pieces to form a coarse dough-like mixture)

  • Transfer this mixture in a square tin and press the mixture to fit the tin
